The Royal Canadian Legion is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families. The site of Calgary Branch No.1 has a rich history, originally serving as the No. 1 Fire Hall.

On September 6, 1922, the building was dedicated as a memorial to honor those who served in World War I (1914-1918). Initially, it functioned as a clubhouse for the Great War Veterans’ Association, which was established in Winnipeg in 1916. In 1927, the premises were officially designated as the Calgary (Alberta No. 1) Branch of the Canadian Legion. Later, by Royal Assent in 1960, it became part of The Royal Canadian Legion, reflecting its enduring commitment to supporting veterans and their families.
